Mali: journalist and influencer jailed for 7 years for criticising ruling junta
A Bamako court sentenced prominent broadcaster Mohamed Youssouf Bathily and campaigner Rokia Doumbia to seven years in prison for criticising Mali's ruling junta. Both were convicted of criminal conspiracy and discrediting the state. The verdict is the latest example of the Malian military authorities suppressing freedom of expression.
