Hungary sinks barges in Danube to raise water level and keep Paks nuclear plant running
Hungary deliberately sank two barges in the Danube to raise the river's water level and ensure the continued operation of the Paks nuclear power plant. The Danube's water level had dropped low enough to threaten the plant's cooling systems. The measure is intended to prevent energy production disruptions.
