Poles work to fund state spending until 18 August — latest date ever recorded
The Mises Institute has calculated that Poland's Private Sector Freedom Day in 2026 falls on 18 August — the latest date ever recorded since the indicator was first calculated. Symbolically, the private sector spends the first 229 days of the year covering public expenditure, leaving only 136 days working for itself. The result reflects rapidly growing state spending.
