'Paper mills' sell fake scientific authorship, corrupting research
Shadowy organisations known as "paper mills" charge fees to list people as authors of fraudulent scientific journal articles, bypassing peer review. Their activity has exploded in recent years, polluting the scientific ecosystem with falsified data and putting medical research at risk. Research integrity specialist Dr Reese Richardson has been tracking these groups and warns of the growing scale of the problem.
