Polish interior ministry: civil registry must update marital status after same-sex marriage transcription
Jolanta and Alicja received a transcription of their foreign marriage certificate, but the head of the civil registry office in Lublin refused to update their marital status, claiming they are not wives under Polish law. The Ministry of Interior and Administration confirmed to OKO.press that the official is wrong — after a marriage act transcription, the office is legally obliged to update the couple's marital status. The Ministry of Digitalisation also criticised the Lublin official's decision.
