Polish internet turns 35 — first email sent from Warsaw University in 1991

On 17 August 1991, the first Polish email was sent from the Faculty of Physics at the University of Warsaw, marking the symbolic birth of the internet in Poland. Dr Jacek Gajewski, who took part in the event, admits nobody could have predicted the direction the technology would take. Over 35 years, the internet evolved from a niche academic tool into a foundation of society and the economy.
