Nawrocki misspoke about Monte Cassino defenders — Tomczyk responds
President Karol Nawrocki made a gaffe in a speech by referring to Polish soldiers as "defenders" of Monte Cassino, when in fact they were the attacking force. Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk gave a qualified defence of the president on TVN24, but criticised him for having mocked a similar mistake by Barbara Nowacka when he was still a presidential candidate. The incident drew attention because of the apparent double standard.
