US Army opens testing ranges to private drone companies without government contracts

The US Army is now allowing private drone companies to request access to its test ranges without needing pre-existing government contracts. Five facilities across four US states and Morocco are part of the programme. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll said the change is aimed at cutting red tape for smaller defence contractors. Dugway Proving Ground in Utah is among the ranges now available for precision strike testing.
