Duplantis retains European Championship gold — Karalis reaches 6.20 m but falls short

Armand Duplantis successfully defended his gold medal in the pole vault at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. His main rival Emanuil Karalis jumped a personal best of 6.20 m, but it was not enough to unseat the Swedish superstar. Duplantis has lost a major championship final only once, seven years ago in Doha where he took silver at the World Championships.
