Iga Świątek opened her title defence at the WTA 1000 event in Cincinnati with a commanding 6:3, 6:0 win over Colombia's Emiliana Arango in just 72 minutes. The Polish player had previously won the Toronto WTA 1000 final against Elena Rybakina. The WTA quickly issued a statement following Świątek's victory.
