Turkey toughens juvenile sentencing — up to 27 years for the most serious crimes

Turkey's parliament has passed stricter criminal penalties for minors, allowing sentences of up to 27 years for the most serious offences. The move targets the use of children by organised crime groups. However, experts and human rights advocates warn that harsher penalties alone will not curb the wave of youth violence.
