Polish survivor's pension requires at least one year of marriage
To qualify for a survivor's pension from Poland's ZUS social insurance, a marriage must have lasted at least one year — unless a child was born during the union. The benefit amounts to between 85 and 95 percent of the deceased spouse's pension entitlement. Many people are unaware of the minimum duration requirement and assume that simply being married is sufficient.
