Landes wildfire in France: 1,700 hectares burned, blaze still out of control

A wildfire in the Landes region of southwestern France has burned 1,700 hectares of forest. The blaze has stopped spreading but remains out of control, with 550 firefighters, military personnel and six water-bombing aircraft deployed. Evacuated residents have not yet been allowed to return home.
