Warholm nearly lost his gold medal — tried to hand away his spikes before equipment check

Karsten Warholm won the 400m hurdles final at the European Championships in Birmingham, but almost landed himself in serious trouble afterwards. The Norwegian attempted to give his golden spikes to a friend before undergoing the mandatory equipment check. Had he done so, he could have lost his gold medal.
