Caporalato: the forced labour system killing migrant farmworkers in Italy

Tomasz Skowronek writes in "Tygodnik Przegląd" about the caporalato system — illegal labour brokerage that forces migrants into gruelling conditions on Italian farms. On 1 June, five migrant farmworkers were attacked at a petrol station in Amendolara, Calabria. The system exposes workers to violence and exploitation with near-total impunity.
