Fraudsters use your holiday Instagram photos to craft AI-powered phishing scams
Fraudsters scrape holiday photos from Instagram and Facebook to craft hyper-personalised phishing messages — for example, a text claiming a card was compromised "while you were travelling in Porto." AI allows scammers to automatically match message content to locations and details visible in photos, making the fake alerts highly convincing. The goal is to trick victims into handing over their bank account details.
