Kate Douglass breaks 50m freestyle world record twice in one day — 23.19sec

American swimmer Kate Douglass broke the women's 50m freestyle world record twice on the same day at the Pan Pacs. She first clocked 23.49 seconds in the morning heats, taking the record from teammate Gretchen Walsh. In the evening final she improved the mark to 23.19 seconds to win the event, with Walsh finishing second in 23.74.
