Trump orders return to steam catapults on Ford-class carriers

President Donald Trump has ordered the replacement of the electromagnetic EMALS catapult system with conventional steam catapults on Ford-class aircraft carriers. Trump has repeatedly criticised EMALS as unreliable and costly. The decision is expected to entail significant refit costs for the US Navy.
