Bukowiecka wins European Championship silver in 400m — gold to Jaeger

Natalia Bukowiecka claimed the silver medal in the 400m final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham with a time of 50.04 seconds. Norway's Henriette Jaeger took the gold and proved too strong for the Polish athlete, who could not defend her European title. Bukowiecka nonetheless delivered a strong tactical race, holding off challengers in the home straight.
