Forest fire in Slovak High Tatras and waste plant blaze in Pomerania

On Saturday 15 August a forest fire broke out in the Slovak High Tatras near Popradské Pleso, a popular tourist area difficult for firefighters to access. At roughly the same time, a waste treatment facility in Chlewnica in the Pomerania region of Poland caught fire. Local authorities urged nearby residents to close their windows due to smoke.
