Europe's tallest Virgin Mary statue consecrated in Konotopa — 55.6 metres high

A 55.6-metre statue of Our Lady of Mercy was consecrated on Saturday in Konotopa, making it the tallest Marian monument in Europe. The ceremony was led by Bishop Krzysztof Wętkowski of the Diocese of Włocławek and attended by former president Lech Wałęsa. Roses were dropped from a helicopter and the Mazowsze folk ensemble performed at the event.
