Siemoniak: Ukraine naming a unit after the UPA was a blow to Poland's heart
Polish Defence Minister Tomasz Siemoniak has called on Kyiv to respect Polish historical sensitivities, saying the decision to name a Ukrainian military unit after the UPA — the wartime nationalist organisation responsible for massacres of Poles — was "a blow to our national heart" and indefensible. He made the remarks in a Wirtualna Polska podcast. Polish-Ukrainian relations are entering a complicated phase amid historical disputes, domestic political pressure and waning public solidarity.
