Poles hold record cash savings — 11.5% of GDP, three times the EU average

Cash is the second-largest component of Polish household savings after current deposits, and its share continues to grow. Poland ranks third in the EU for cash holdings relative to GDP at 11.5%, compared with an EU average of just 4.7%. The figure sets Poland well apart from most other member states and underscores a strong national preference for physical money.
