Nawrocki's gaffe: praised Polish "defenders" of Monte Cassino — they were the attackers

During the 15 August celebrations, President Karol Nawrocki praised Poland's patriotic upbringing for producing "great defenders of Monte Cassino." In fact, it was German forces who defended Monte Cassino, while Polish troops under General Anders stormed and captured the hill in May. The remark has been widely noted as a historical error.
