Solar dominates US new power plants in first half of the year
According to US Energy Information Administration data, 368 utility-scale power plants came online in the US in the first half of the year, dominated by solar farms. The list is led by the SunZia Wind South and SunZia Wind North farms in New Mexico, with a combined capacity of 3,650 megawatts — the largest wind farms in the country. Meanwhile, onshore wind development has slowed due to regulatory and other challenges.
