Magnitude 7.7 earthquake kills at least 38 in eastern Indonesia

A magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck eastern Indonesia's Flores region early Saturday, killing at least 38 people and sending thousands fleeing to higher ground over tsunami fears. Indonesian authorities issued and then lifted a tsunami warning after monitoring showed no significant sea-level changes. Dozens of aftershocks followed, including one of magnitude 6.1, and widespread building collapses were reported.
