What is an SMR and where will Poland build its first small nuclear reactor?
Small modular reactors (SMRs) are simplified, smaller versions of conventional nuclear power plants whose main advantage is lower construction cost and shorter build time. The technology is attracting growing interest in Poland as part of the country's energy transition. The first Polish SMR installations could be completed sooner than large nuclear plants, though final sites have not yet been confirmed.
