Polish banks face shrinking borrower base as society ages
Polish banks have already extended credit to roughly half of all adult Poles, and that number is slowly declining despite new borrowers entering the market. Unfavourable demographics — an ageing and shrinking population — are becoming the key constraint on the banking sector's growth. Banks will need new business models to sustain expansion.
