China plans bamboo "Great Green Wall" to fight advancing desert
Chinese researchers have proposed using bamboo as the primary material in the country's "Great Green Wall" project, aimed at halting desertification in northern China. Bamboo is considered more ecological, durable and cheaper than previously used materials. Bamboo forests would form a barrier against the advancing desert.
