UN warns over half of women's organisations in Afghanistan may shut down within a year

Five years after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, UN Women warns that more than half of women's organisations operating in the country could cease operations within the next year due to lack of funding. The UN is urging the international community to provide urgent support. Afghan women have been stripped of basic rights including access to education and employment under Taliban rule.
