Upgraded Sardinia radio telescope to deepen study of mysterious fast radio bursts

Italy's largest radio telescope, situated on a remote mountain plateau in southern Sardinia, has been upgraded and will continue probing fast radio bursts (FRBs) — some of the cosmos' most enigmatic phenomena. FRBs are brief, intensely powerful flashes of radio waves whose origins remain poorly understood. The upgraded instrument is expected to help scientists make further progress in unravelling the mystery.
