Dead star provides strongest evidence yet that empty space acts like a prism

Research led by graduate student Rachael Stewart at George Washington University has found the strongest evidence yet that extreme magnetic fields around a dead star alter the properties of a vacuum, making seemingly empty space act like a prism and changing how light travels through it.
