Covid-19 reawakens dormant viruses, potentially worsening symptoms and long Covid risk

A new study suggests that Covid-19 triggers the reactivation of dormant viruses already present in the body, such as the herpesvirus that causes mononucleosis. This reactivation may worsen Covid-19 symptoms and raise the risk of long Covid. Most people carry such latent viruses without symptoms under normal circumstances.
