Battocletti wins 10,000m gold at Europeans — Glinka debuts without a medal
Nadia Battocletti won the 10,000 metres at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, finishing with a sprint reminiscent of Ewa Swoboda's 5,000m victory days earlier. Polish debutante Elżbieta Glinka, a 30-year-old who was working as a civil engineer just two years ago and won the European Cup in May, ran to her level but could not match Battocletti's finishing kick. Glinka completed the race without a medal.
