U.S. Army seeks affordable 1,000-km strike missile to hit high-value targets

The U.S. Army is seeking a new lower-cost strike missile, named the Affordable High Speed Strike (AHSS), capable of hitting targets over 1,000 kilometres away. The weapon could use ballistic or air-breathing propulsion and be fired from platforms including HIMARS and new unmanned launcher vehicles. Priority targets include enemy air bases, air defence nodes and missile launchers within a given theatre of operations.
