Belgian teen unearths €9m gold hoard while digging sewers
Eighteen-year-old Kobe, working a summer job on a sewer construction site in Sint-Gillis-Dendermonde, Belgium, stumbled upon a hidden gold hoard estimated to be worth around €9 million. The trove was found on the site of a former brewery; Kobe initially mistook the pieces for €1 coins before realising they were gold bars. "We suddenly saw something lying there," he told Belgian broadcaster VTM. "Then we saw a gold bar. It turned out to be a bit more than we thought."
