ISS silhouetted against the sun during the Aug. 12 total solar eclipse

During the total solar eclipse on Aug. 12, NASA photographer Joel Kowsky captured the silhouette of the International Space Station transiting across the face of the sun. The eclipse drew millions of skywatchers, and the remarkable composite image shows the ISS passing in front of the solar disc at just the right moment. The photograph documents a rare coincidence of two simultaneous celestial events.
