Marie Curie or bee-eater birds? ECB weighs designs for new euro banknotes

The European Central Bank is weighing two thematic directions for the next series of euro banknotes: the figure of Marie Skłodowska-Curie as a symbol of European scientific achievement, or bee-eater birds as a nature motif. A decision on the design has not yet been made and is attracting attention across the eurozone. The new notes will replace the current Europa series.
