France's Constitutional Council strikes down social media ban for under-15s

France's Constitutional Council has struck down the key article of a law banning children under 15 from social media, ruling it a disproportionate infringement on freedom of expression and communication. The Council found the blanket ban could apply to online services not proven harmful to minors. The ruling effectively kills the centrepiece of a law championed by the French president.
