Astronomers release 3 million new spectra mapping black holes and rare stars
The SDSS-V project has released more than three million new spectra in its largest expansion to date, bringing optical observations to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time. The data reveal rare stars, glowing nebulae, hundreds of thousands of X-ray sources, and supermassive black holes evolving over time. It represents one of the most comprehensive surveys of the universe ever assembled.
