Zambia suspends vote count after election violence and ballot theft

Zambia's electoral commission suspended the vote count from Thursday's presidential and parliamentary elections for at least 24 hours, citing violence against poll staff and reports of stolen marked ballots. Former minister Brian Mundubile, the main challenger to President Hakainde Hichilema, claimed a first-round victory and expressed "grave concern" over the ongoing delay. The situation remains tense.
