England in record drought: 71% of land officially dry, driest July since 1836

This summer has brought England an unprecedented drought, with 71.3% of the country's land area officially classified as dry and July recorded as the driest since 1836. The crisis has affected 45 million people, more than half of whom have been forced to conserve water. Areas around Dover and Stonehenge now resemble scorched savannah as riverbeds dry up.
