Some debts never expire — mortgages and enforcement orders can be perpetual in Poland
Under the Polish Civil Code, the standard debt limitation period is 6 or 3 years, but numerous factors can extend or reset that clock. Debts secured by mortgage and those enforced by a bailiff can effectively never expire. Debtors should be aware that any action acknowledging a debt — such as a partial payment — resets the limitation period entirely.
