Flock cuts data retention to 7 days and pushes back on surveillance allegations

Flock Safety, maker of licence plate readers, is reducing default data retention from 30 to 7 days and tightening controls on how its customers can share data with other agencies. CEO Garrett Langley insists the company's mission is public safety, not mass surveillance. Privacy activists have responded by publishing a 3D-printable "Flock Sock" camera cover designed to block the devices.
