Warsaw's Vistula hits record low of 102 cm amid Poland-wide hydrological drought
On August 7, the water gauge at Warsaw's riverside boulevards recorded 102 cm — the lowest level of the Vistula ever measured. Ecohydrologist Dr Sebastian Szklarek explained that the record low reflects the hydrological conditions across the entire catchment area above Warsaw, not any human interference or political decisions. The piece also addresses social media misinformation about the causes of the drought.
