Bundeswehr short 2,000 soldiers for Lithuanian Brigade on NATO's eastern flank
The Lithuanian Brigade, described as the Bundeswehr's most important project since the Cold War, is set to station nearly 5,000 German soldiers permanently on NATO's eastern flank by end of 2027. However, almost half of the positions remain unfilled, with around 2,000 soldiers still needed. The shortfall raises serious questions about Germany's ability to meet its NATO commitments.
