Horses had tongues tied to jaw during races — prosecutors notified in Warsaw
A formal complaint alleging animal cruelty has been filed with the Warsaw-Ursynów district prosecutor's office regarding practices at the Służewiec racecourse in Warsaw. The complaint concerns the tying of horses' tongues to their lower jaws — a practice banned under horse racing regulations for a decade. Those who filed the complaint say the procedure causes pain, stress and even tissue necrosis in the animals.
