Scientist builds the missing cell atlas of childhood

Deanne Taylor, director of bioinformatics at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, noticed the Human Cell Atlas project had no plans to study children. Children's cells differ from adults' in how they express genes, making a separate map essential for paediatric medicine. Taylor set out to fill that gap by pushing for a dedicated childhood cell atlas.
