MSCI proposes dropping Strategy and Metaplanet from stock indices

MSCI has launched a consultation proposing to exclude so-called "non-operating companies" — firms that hold cryptocurrencies instead of running a core business — from its stock indices. Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) and Japan's Metaplanet, both major bitcoin holders, appear on the proposed deletion list. The proposal is still under consultation and not yet finalised.
