Prof. Shore: "better historical policy" is a contradiction — Senate rejects Szpytma as IPN head

The Polish Senate rejected the candidacy of Mateusz Szpytma for the post of IPN president, a nomination backed in the Sejm by PiS, Konfederacja, PSL and part of Poland 2050. Historian Prof. Marci Shore comments that "better historical policy" may be a contradiction in terms, arguing that history is not comfortable and demands constant questioning of the conditions that made terror and atrocities possible.
